Born as a minimal bedroom project, Fortunaut is now a dynamic quintet intent on cathartic live performances. Their debut full-length, Press Up Off the Earth, captures the raw energy of a newly formed band and defines their distinct color palette of sounds. It was composed in four weeks, rehearsed once, and recorded live in one day at Virtue and Vice Studios in Brooklyn. A new EP is slated for 2016.

Figures
lyricsHouse up on the Hill, young and dumb.
Tired, reeling, still winter sun.
I’d been walking when on came a song.
Got to thinking I had it all wrong.Cabin on the lake, you were gone.
Stubborn, silent, snake, never wrong.
I’d been writing and waiting for you.
Love was lying and swearing the truth. Now you’re lonely.
Now you’re lonely. So I traced the edge of my eye.
Scared to death of outside the lines.
I’d been trying to picture you cold.
Told you twice I knew you weren’t alone. Now you’re lonely.
Now you’re lonely.
Now you’re lonely.
Now you’re lonely. -
Sunmelt
lyricsYou came so far and wanna go back.
You’ve become some masochist.
You perch your head, chin on your shoulder.
You thought you’d learn as you got older.Well I can’t fight the itch,
there’s nothing new to talk about.
How do I leave it all to chance?Left to luck
believing in.
Left to luck alone.
Left to luck.Well I can’t fight the itch,
there’s nothing new to talk about.
How do I leave it all?
